My girl FabUK got to see Ida Maria last night...
Last night I braved the awful London weather to check out Norwegian's current hottest export at the Scala in King's Cross. If you don't recognise the name then you'll definitely remember the Summer anthem "I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked".

OK, you've got an hour to get the turkey out of the oven, mash the potatoes, prep the stuffing, not to mention setting the table for the people who are coming over for dinner. OMG the people! You need a party playlist asap!

Tuesdays are big in entertainmentville: Not only do all the new DVD releases
hit Netflix, but new music also pours into stores, including iTunes. So I take a spin through each week's iTunes music releases and pick out some albums and tracks
worthy of a download. Here are today's selections:
Glamorous:
This new album from Las Vegas's own glam rock band The Killers goes full speed ahead on the dramatic.

This week people around the country will be saying thanks for their blessings: family, friends, good health, etc. So it's a fitting time to make a playlist of music that captures this sentiment in song. Many popular songs that express gratitude have to do with thanking a romantic partner for his/her love, but there are plenty of tunes that are simply thankful for someone's kindness (Natalie Merchant's "Kind and Generous") or for good friendship ("Thank You for Being a Friend" by Andrew Gold, later covered and used for the Golden Girls theme song).

Some music news today:
No Doubt is planning to regroup for an album and a tour. In an IM conversation
on their site, guitarist Tom Dumont wrote "I have cabin fever. Maybe we should play some shows or something," to which Gwen Stefani responded, "I think we should go out now.

After a long wait — at least one reviewer has compared it to
waiting for a unicorn — Guns N' Roses'
Chinese Democracy officially hit stores over the weekend. Now comes the flurry of reviews, purchases, and people signing up for their
free Dr Pepper (hurry — that part only
works till 6 p.m. EST today!).

Chris Brown, Rihanna, and Kanye West were among the big winners Sunday at the
American Music Awards. Brown took home the biggest prize of all, winning Artist of the Year by beating out Lil Wayne, Coldplay, the Eagles, and Alicia Keys. It was one of three awards for Brown, who also won Favorite Male Artist in both the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories.

The folks over at
Paste have compiled a pretty impressive list of the
40 best TV theme songs of all time, complete with YouTube clips for each. Some of them are relatively modern classics (
The Simpsons,
The Sopranos), while many others dredge up memories of the '70s (The Love Boat, The Brady Bunch).
It's a pretty comprehensive list, and there are lots of fun facts I didn't know (for example, the same composers did the music for The A-Team, CHiPs, and Doogie Howser, MD, among others).
This week's episode of
Grey's Anatomy was a bit of a baffling mess, but at least I got one good thing out of it: the discovery of
The Flying Tourbillon Orchestra. The LA band's song "The Uniform" from the
Escapements EP kicked off Thursday's episode, and it stuck in my head enough that I needed to look it up first thing Friday morning.
Since then, I've become a bit addicted to a few of the other songs on the band's
MySpace page, especially "Don't Be Fooled."
