PartySugar and I have already planned our
Thanksgiving menus, and now we're just eagerly awaiting
the big day. To distract our giddy selves, we had a discussion about what we're serving to drink at Thanksgiving dinner. She'll be serving a citrus spritzer, Champagne, and Beaujolais, while
DearSugar will be drinking red, white, and bubbly.

Earlier this month, I was pleasantly surprised to hear about the opening of
the world's first all-organic bar. So when I learned of
Loft Liqueurs, the first USDA certified
organic liqueur, I had to find out what all the hype was about.
Created by two best friends and San Francisco hospitality veterans to save people from "the bright neon color of your average apple martini," the
limoncello-inspired spirits are at the forefront of sustainability and eco-consciousness.

Last week I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down with
Dale DeGroff. If you've never heard of DeGroff, you'll be surprised to know that he has changed your life. Remember that basil gimlet you enjoyed at the bar last week?

Americans may love kicking back with beer, but times are tough. That's why an increasing number of beer drinkers are
swapping their microbrews for what are called "subpremium" beers in the beverage industry.
Anheuser-Busch has reported that its brands Busch and Natural Light have seen upticks in sales.

A recent
British study found that pregnant women who indulged in one or two drinks per week while expecting their sons had better behaved boys. It said:Boys born to mothers who drank lightly were 40% less likely to have conduct problems and 30% less likely to be hyperactive, even when the differences between social and economic circumstances were taken into account. They also scored more highly in vocabulary tests and were better able to identify shapes, colours, letters and numbers.

The other day I made a martini with
Absolut's 100-proof, black-label vodka.
I've never considered myself a lightweight, but you could definitely notice the difference in strength!
How about you?

At the
Food Network's NYC Wine and Food Festival, besides
the delicious food, there was a plethora of interesting spirits. I waded through the depths of the rums, tequilas, and everything in between, and have picked my top four pours to share with you. If you're into trying out the newest, latest liquors, I highly recommend you seek out these bottles.

Drunk drivers are losing part of their 15 minutes of shame after a judge's ruling deemed that New York's Nassau County had been violating due process by
posting the mug shots of DWI suspects on its Internet "Wall of Shame." The county began posting the mug shots of DWI arrests on Memorial Day, and has since
been sued by one woman who was pictured. She said the online gallery was unconstitutional as it was posted before her trial.

MillerCoors announced yesterday that production of the malt-liquor beverage
Zima has been discontinued.
The product was part of the 1990s clear-drink craze that included Crystal Pepsi and Tab Clear.
Zima proclaimed to be "Zomething different" from beer, wine, or hard liquor, but in recent years, the drink — which had been repackaged and reformulated into citrus, tangerine, and pineapple citrus flavors — was outsold by competitor Smirnoff Ice.
