Not surprisingly, given what I do for a living, I often turn to my favorite TV specials (A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Snowman, and A Muppet Family Christmas, among many others) to get me in the holiday spirit. Well, this year, there's a new special on the scene, and it already seems destined to become a seasonal classic.
A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All (hee) premieres Sunday at 10 p.m.
Rahm Emanuel Roasts Stephen Colbert White House chief of staff-designate Rahm Emanuel took some time off from the transition Friday night to hurl barbs at his longtime pseudo-nemesis Stephen Colbert (as well as Joe Biden, Sarah Palin, Joe Lieberman, et al.)

Throughout this crazy election season, whenever I've needed a quick pick-me-up or a laugh at the day's wacky events, I've turned first to Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. So it's only fitting that the two of them will be a big part of today's election TV coverage, with a live
Indecision 2008: America's Choice special airing at 10 p.m. EST, 7 p.m.

Oh man, if you missed
The Colbert Report the other night, I've got to fill you in on the details about this hilarious segment. Stephen started talking about Milton Pedraza, the CEO of the "Luxury Institute," who recommends a strategy of "stealth wealth" and "avoiding conspicuous consumption for a less flashy image" during this economic crisis. Stephen then goes on to say that he took Milton's advice of forgetting $10,000 mobile phones and picking up iPhones instead, so he decided to trade in his $310,000
Vertu cell phone for an iPhone and a land line (keep your eyes peeled for his blinged-out rotary phone!).

Just yesterday while I was
lamenting that Bill Maher forgot to interview Stephen Colbert (seen here with his wife and daughter at last month's Emmys), he was speaking (with his wife!) at the New Yorker Festival in Manhattan. He's known for giving few interviews and even fewer out of character and probably none with his wife, who
puts up with it all, so this was a rare treat.
It appears it wasn't taped, but there are some great recaps.

Stephen Colbert recently took Sesame Street's awesome Cookie Monster to task for abandoning his whole-hearted pro-cookie agenda. He now eats fruit — and cookies are just a sometime snack. WTF?!

There were lots of
Emmy after parties to choose from last night, but
big winners Stephen Colbert and
Sarah Silverman remained true to their network at the Comedy Central Party at STK. It may not have been the most star-studded bash, but judging from the
laughs Stephen brought to the press room, there must have been plenty of fun to go around. Sarah and Kanye were
red carpet absentees, but considering
the boring show reviews, and
reportedly really low ratings partying into the wee hours was probably a better time anyway.

After the
highs and lows of the
Emmys show the party really got started. For many, the first stop was the Governor's Ball like Heidi in yet another gown before the other bashes. Some were off to the ET/People bash while others went to hear Samantha Ronson spin at Kress nightclub for the TV Guide soiree.
