There's been
a lot of talk and anticipation about the upcoming release of Star Trek — not out until May 2009 — based on the classic TV series. Eric Bana, Winona Ryder, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto star in this update, which sees Chris in William Shatner's role as Captain Kirk and Zachary as Dr Spock. Check out the trailer below and tell me if you'll see the movie — and look out for the original Dr Spock Leonard Nimoy towards the end.

"The wait is over." I wonder if J.J. Abrams was feeling cheeky when he made those the final words in this first full-length trailer for
Star Trek, which premiered over the weekend before screenings of
Quantum of Solace.

This has got to be the best news I've heard all week! YouTube is now streaming
15 50-minute episodes of geeky classic TV shows like
Star Trek,
MacGyver and, wait for it —
Beverly Hills 90210! Once you click on a show, you can decide whether you want to watch it in Theater View with the surrounding LED light on or off.

They had a space mission together for five years, going "boldly where no man had gone before." Only, lots of men, even in ancient Greece, had in fact gone there long ago, if you know what I mean. What the hell am I talking about?

I guess if I went through the grief of medical school, I'd be tellin' everyone "I'm a doctor" all the time, too! Except, remember how he was also
always pronouncing everyone dead? (So maybe he shouldn't be bragging so much!)

These adorable fuzzy kittens look just like those
Tribbles from the old Star Trek episodes. Only, there's no trouble here. Everything is going swimmingly.

I can't deny the fact that I used to get a good chuckle out pics like the one below, when couples would go the distance by having a geek-inspired wedding. But now I'm realizing that a couple's wedding day is about them, their love, and sharing their special day with friends and family. .

I mean, with this kind of track record, don't you need to get your medical license yanked away? Even in deep space? (McCoy reminds me of this cat, Smokey, I saw on a television special.

Beaded curtains and Star Trek kinda go together, don't you think? Artist Deborah Sperber created this colorful curtain with thousands of tiny beads to make up the Captain Kirk 3D image, which totally reminds me of a hologram. I can't even imagine how much one of these intricate portraits would cost!

Listen up all you Trekkies, if you want to check out Shatner and the rest of the starship Enterprise crew in all their geeky glory, head over to the CBS website where you'll find full-length episodes of
Star Trek: The Original Series seasons one, two, and three.
Neatorama has also pointed out that there are 30-second ads before each episode, but a small price to pay considering you get your
Star Trek fix for free! One last surprise.
